RSS: Bringing Visitors to your Blog

Exciting technology makes it really simple for your readers to find you

Feeding your readers

One of the great things about business blogs is that your articles can be "subscribed" to by interested readers. In fact, a reader can click on your "feed" link once and then automatically receive notification whenever you post a new article. Better still, the subscriber doesn't need to return to your blog site to access and read the article since his or her "feed reader" downloads the post and "aggregates" all the reader's subscriptions in one place to read online or offline on his or her PC.

Feed Links

You've seen feed links before, especially if you frequent news sites. They're the orange-colored icons labeled, "XML" or "RSS" or "Atom," that invite you to find out about updates from websites and blog sites automatically. The article "publisher," you for instance, "syndicates" articles your write and post for readers.

When you have a business blog installed by BlogWhiz, this RSS feed linking is automatically built into your site. You don't need to do anything to syndicate your articles and have them available for readers to subscribe to.

Subscribing to feeds

Anyone that writes a blog, offers news stories, podcasts or other web content they want to share with subscribers can publish a feed.

The player for a feed is called a "feed reader." Makes sense, doesn't it. A feed reader is available either online using your web browser, or , as a small downloadable application on your computer that checks you're the feeds you've subscribed to and displays any updates.

Check in the sidebar to the left to view some of the more popular feed readers. Again, you can use an online feed reader or choose a program installed on your computer to do the same thing.
